Pros: Large size. Great for mixing dough. Timer feature is nice.
Cons: Lid falls off too easily. I do not recommend using this or any bread maker for baking dough.
I’ve used another bread maker before. I replaced it because it was starting to rust and the Teflon was starting to get scratches in it. I got this unit because it was a slightly larger capacity.
I’ve cooked bread in a bread maker a few times, but I’ve learned it better to just use the bread maker as a dough mixer/riser. When cooking bread, I remove the dough and place it in a regular pan and cook it in the oven. It just works better. I use it to make dough for a number of non-loaf breads, like: pizza dough, cinnamon rolls, pretzels… it works great for any yeast-based dough. I make pizza dough in it a lot.
As far as recipes go, I don’t use the book included with the machine. There are tons of bread maker recipes on the internet, but you can use just about any normal recipe to work in a bread machine. You just have to remember the order of ingredients: wet ingredients first, then the dry ingredients. Always add the flour second to last and put the yeast on top of it.
